Darood Sharif (also known as Salawat or Durood) is an Islamic prayer invoked upon the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to express love, respect, and to seek blessings from Allah. It is commonly recited daily, especially during prayers (e.g. Durood-e-Ibrahim) to obtain spiritual benefits, forgiveness, and to ease hardships.
innaka Hameedum Majeed.
“O Allah, send Your mercy upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad,
as You sent mercy upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim.
Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious.
O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim.
Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious.”
