Funeral prayer is a Fard al-Kifayah (collective obligation) consisting of four Takbirs (Allahu Akbar) while standing, with no Ruku or Sujud. It involves reciting Thana, Durood-e-Ibrahim, and specific supplications for the deceased (dua) after the third Takbir, ending with Tasleem
1st Takbir: Raise hands, say Allahu Akbar, tie hands. Recite Sana or Surah Al-Fatihah
2nd Takbir: Say Allahu Akbar (no need to raise hands). Recite Durood-e-Ibrahim (same as in daily prayer).
3rd Takbir: Say Allahu Akbar. Recite the Dua for the deceased (see below).
4th Takbir: Say Allahu Akbar. Offer a general dua for the deceased and all Muslims, then end with Tasleem (Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah) to the right, or both sides
O Allah forgive our living and our dead, those who are with us and those who are absent, our young and our old, our menfolk and our womenfolk. O Allah, whomever you give life from among us give him life in Islam, and whomever you take way from us take him away in Faith. O Allah, do not forbid us their reward and do not send us astray after them. Abu Dawud: 3201, At-Tirmidhi: 102
“O Allah, make him (this child) a precursor, a forerunner, and a treasure for us, and make him an answered intercessor.”
O Allah, make her a preceding reward and a stored treasure for us, and make her an intercessor for us, whose intercession is accepted”
